As someone who collects comics seriously and has visited many shops across NYC, I had high hopes for this store given its prime location next to Alpine Cinemas. While the staff is friendly and chatty—especially with moviegoers popping in after screenings—the actual service for comic collectors leaves a lot to be desired. Unfortunately, the staff tends to openly discuss major movie spoilers without checking if customers have seen the film, which feels careless in such a setting. More importantly, for collectors, there’s little effort to engage or upsell. Ask about key issues or CGC slabs, and you’re more likely to get a shrug than a recommendation. There are no bulk purchase incentives, and the overall vibe feels more like a casual hangout than a place where collectors are valued. What’s especially surprising is that they also sell on Whatnot, a platform that thrives on strong customer service and collector engagement. Based on the in-person experience, it’s hard to imagine the same level of effort translating online. Shops like Midtown Comics, Forbidden Planet, or Silver Age Comics in Ditmars do a far better job at catering to both casual fans and serious collectors. This store has potential, but the customer service and collector experience need serious improvement.
Owner is super nice and willing to help he gave me a good deal on marvel select ultron and taskmaster
This place is exactly what you want when you are looking for a local comic shop to get you your weekly fix of funny books. The staff is friendly and will treat you like family! If books are delivered late, don’t blame them; it’s the distributors fault. Need something specific? They will order it for you! Need something randomly? Message them and they will find it for you. I’m so thankful that I don’t have to visit the other pretentious shops in the area that don’t make you feel welcome (like St. Marks).
