I stopped by Hashtag Gaming Arena recently looking to purchase an Enhanced Booster Box for Pokémon Mega Evolution. Earlier that same day, I had seen a photo clearly showing the price at $245. However, when I arrived — not even 10–15 minutes later — the price was already changed on the spot and increased significantly. When I mentioned that I had just seen it listed for $245, the employee asked where I saw it and then chuckled. He explained that the price increase was to "match market prices." While I understand that small businesses need to stay competitive, the way this was handled left a really bad impression. There was no attempt to honor the price or even meet halfway. Instead of trying to provide a good customer experience, the situation was just brushed off. It felt like the store was more focused on chasing a few extra dollars than building trust or loyalty. If the price had changed the day before or something, I’d get it — but this was within minutes of a clearly advertised price. Honoring that price, or at least acknowledging the discrepancy seriously, would’ve shown integrity and respect for the customer. Unfortunately, this experience makes it clear that customer care isn't a priority here. I really wanted to support a local gaming shop, but this kind of attitude just makes it hard to justify coming back.
