When tornadoes tear through midwestern towns, it leaves a wake of destruction that was out of the citizens' control, unfortunately for here, they are the corner of a business park so the only wake left is of their own volition. Living in the area, I was excited to know that there was an LGS near me. I parked, and saw the sun-bleached signs realizing that they had been here for a while. The ESSJ sun is BRUTAL, and I figured that the photos I saw on here were just an over exaggeration--- Boy was I wrong. They didn't even scratch the surface. I walked in and did not expect to see the disaster I saw. One thing is being a "hole in the wall" and another is being a "hole in the wall" where you "throw your trash into" and "also happen to sell cards." The photos do not seem to do this place justice. A sty of cardboard, wrappers, a half consumed bottle of four roses, and loose cards strewn throughout the tables. There were piles of cardboard blocking an entire swath of the store which were blocking the funko pops and what I can only assume are other figurines. I entered on a mission, for some MTG cards. They had a wall full of it, unorganized, chaotically placed, and strewn about. Their cabinet of MTG cards had nothing with prices except for one 70 dollar card. I'd assume they also had bulk in the shop somewhere, but the stress of their disorganization kept me from even bothering to ask. I was in and out in 2 minutes. There were two "staff members." One manning the "register" and another among the (I believe "play tables") piles of cardboard, cards, and bottle of aforementioned whisky on their laptop. The store was not busy, which can lead me to only one thought...their care for their store is non existent. If you have time to lean, you have time to clean. It's a damn shame, simply because the area it is in is a great area for an LGS with a huge play area. Owner/s, if you are reading this, do something. You have the potential to really make a killing. It's a huge store with a lot of unused space that can house large amounts of people for launch events, tournaments, and a place to play casually and hang out. I came in open minded, but left wanting it to be better. I'm not one to post reviews and this was disappointing.
Incredibly messy and disorganized, even more than previous pictures show. Cards and items laid out on the floor, display cases were pretty messy. Walked in and the staff was just sitting at the table in the center of the store, playing a game and talking amongst themselves. They ignored just about everything I said until I asked for pricing, which one staff member pulled out his phone, checked TCG, told me the price off the website, and immediately went back to the game. Worst card shop I’ve ever been to, makes me think that it’s just a front for them to get cheaper prices on booster boxes since they seem to be opening a lot of their stock.
This shop has basically cards for every TCG you can possibly think of, ranging from the most popular (Pokemon, Magic, Yugioh) to more niche series (Weiss Schwarz, Vanguard, Dragon Ball, etc.). The staff is very friendly and everything is usually fairly priced against the market. The BIG major gripes I have is that they never seem to pick up the phone and their opening hours are stupid inconsistent. Honestly feels like open whenever they want. Also some of the tables are piled high with boxes of random stuff and it's always been that way. I still think this place is worth a shot mainly due to their selection, but there is some serious improvement needed in the professionalism and cleanliness department.
