I am a new submitter and have always refrained from using grading companies for the simple matter that I FEAR my valuable cards will be damaged and/or not handled appropriately. So, here I am sharing with you on why I was CORRECT on my original belief that using SGC grading is the absolute worst idea. My most prized card is a 1955 Bowman Mickey Mantle. I nervously sent the card along with 19 others into SGC. I have collected since the 1980's and am very precise and careful with my collection as I was 100% while shipping my cards to SGC for grading. Nevertheless, I was highly upset once I received my cards back because my 1955 Bowman Mantle was damaged by someone during the SGC process. I am beyond words on how I feel robbed. SGC, a multimillion dollar business will continue on while me, a small guy, bottom of the barrel customer has to EAT the loss and take it up the back door. DO NOT TRUST SGC. DO NOT SEND THEM ANYTHING YOU VALUE. I am living proof. Please read the reviews for this company before you are victimized.
Sent 8 cards in to be graded, paid for 1-2 day turn around and I got them exactly then. Grades look good, first time having anything graded so I won't question them. I know word is they are tougher graders so I will gladly take the scores given. Very happy with service and my introduction to collecting!
Let me start with SGC has my favorite slabs in the entire world of grading. Their grades are precise and completely understandable. I have never seen or received a grade that I disagreed with or was baffled by. Their product is a 10/10 and their shipping is amazing. You receive the cards and slabs with the very best protection and presentation in the business. BUT, the turnaround times are not as presented and are not a guarantee. There is no warning when they are behind and if you are submitting to receive cards back at the end of the 10 business day time frame for a trade show or event, HOLD YOUR CARDS FOR NOW. If you have a month to wait, then yes definitely send them, but if you need your cards back for something soon, I would wait until the turnaround is addressed and solved. I want to give them a 5 for the product and grading but their customer service responses and the current grading time turnaround have to be fixed. My first submission that comes back in time will turn this to a well deserved 5. I’m rooting for this company and team but they’re addressing some growing pains.
