Had a fantastic time at The Side Deck Gaming Café with my child! The space is clean, welcoming, and full of energy — perfect for gamers of all ages. What really made our visit special was the outstanding service from Tess. Tess went above and beyond to make sure both of us felt comfortable and included. She was incredibly patient and kind with my child, taking the time to explain games and even helping us find something fun we could enjoy together. It’s not often you find staff who are that attentive and genuinely enthusiastic. This kind of experience is why we’ll definitely be coming back. Huge thanks to Tess for making our visit such a memorable one!

Usually I always have a good experience at this shop. I’ve been coming here for about a year to buy cards to add to my collection. However I had this really bad encounter, with one of the workers. Specially this guy that wears a blue jacket. I asked if I could just take a look at a card. He refused and would not let me hold it. Which has never happened to me. Typically, I can understand but if I am going to spend money on a card, I would at-least appreciate being able to hold it. However that wasn't the main issue. His response is what made me furious. When I asked why, he just responded with “the door is right there”. I don’t know what his issue is. Ive never seen this guy before till recently but this interaction made me feel disrespected. I like all the other workers and the environment, but this was not a good experience for me. Really hope he finds a better purpose in life.
The Side Deck is Absolutely the BEST LGS in all of the Lexington/Columbia area. They have an immense selection, beautiful store and game space, the coffee is DELICIOUS and the Staff is EXCELLENT. Will was the associate who assisted me with constructing my first mtg commander deck and his professionalism and social cadence on a customer service level was so comforting for a "new player" in the tabletop/card realm. They host ALL kinds of events and tournaments almost every single day all week and they WILL absolutely get you the product you are seeking whether its ordered or in store right then and there. THIS PLACE IS MY NEW FAVORITE GO TO and can't wait to return and meet more of the great staff at this establishment!!!
There are really only two stores in the area that I frequent for gaming, and The Side Deck is a cut above the other. It's not a huge store, but they manage the space they have very well and provide patrons with a cozy and inviting atmosphere to enjoy their chosen hobby. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and keep events running smoothly. Time is a precious commodity, and the fact that events run efficiently, and for the most part on time, is very important to me. Prices are fair and often lower than the other store in the area. The community is kid and family friendly, and there are more competitive players that show up for smaller events; not just the larger ones. The Side Deck is the gold standard for stores in the area. I just wish they had a location on the northeast side of Columbia so I could hang out there more often!
